Australia has become one of the fattest nations in the world and the trend continues to get worse. So much has changed in our daily lives in the past 20 years and it is this combination that is causing us to get more and more unhealthy.
Just like there is a combination of many factors that contribute to our worsening health, like more available and cheaper unhealthy food, more stress, less activity, more creature comforts, busier lives, there is no one silver bullet to cure it. At the moment more Australians are in an unhealthy weight category and less are doing something about it. They don’t know what it is like to live with diabetes, they don’t think that early heart attack is going to happen to them. But it will. Unless you make some changes you are more likely to become a victim to poor health. Don’t leave it too late, don’t wait till your children lose a parent.
What needs to happen is people need to educate themselves on the pitfalls of crash dieting and lack of exercise so they can make informed decisions and make healthy living a part of their lifestyle. That doesn’t mean no beer or wine, no yummy food! It means living a healthy and long life to enjoy what you have worked so hard for.
